How Judgmental are Moms?

Should I start with the saying “moms know the best”?

This one explains it all. Kind of.

The reality is that moms do not know best, but are pouring their heart and soul into these little humans. Which gives them some right. But not much, since their sample size is tiny. That is like saying that someone who knows a woman somewhere out there also knows me and knows what is the best for me and what will make me happy. Wrong.

Because moms are “queens of their castles”, they think that gives them right to judge other moms and their kids. We have to better than that. We have to understand that most moms are just trying their best.

Did this happen to me? Maybe. Was it direct so I can defend myself? No. Did it hurt? Like hell.

So, there was an issue with our kid. Maybe a small one, maybe a big one. Someone else thinks they could have done better in the same situation. Guess what? We go to work where we might be spending all our energy on people who are not our little humans, so we might not always have the energy to do ask them nicely 7 times to put their dirty socks into laundry basket. And that is ok. We can give ourselves some grace and try again tomorrow.

Give others grace. And if you are at any point asking yourself if you are doing ok or if your actions are going to damage your kid(s), I think that is really good step!
